Dominique Vidale-Plaza

  • Director of Care and Country Programmes, Dr. Denis Mukwege Foundation

Dominique Vidale-Plaza is the Director of Care and Country Programmes at the Dr Denis Mukwege Foundation, where she leads efforts to ensure survivors of conflict-related sexual violence have access to survivor-centred and holistic care, in countries including the Central African Republic, Ukraine, Burundi, Ethiopia, and Syria.

With fifteen years of experience in conflict and post-conflict settings, Dominique has worked with UN agencies, international organisations, and civil society to strengthen protection systems and expand access to multisectoral services for survivors. She has trained and worked with military, police, and community actors to prevent and respond to sexual violence and safeguard against sexual exploitation and abuse.

Dominique spent a decade in the Democratic Republic of Congo, working alongside Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr Denis Mukwege and the Panzi Hospital and Foundation team. There, she contributed to the development and documentation of the Panzi “One-Stop Centre” model of care, a pioneering approach that places survivors at its centre, and integrates medical, psychological, socio-economic, and legal support under one roof or as part one coordinated system.
