<WPS@25: Priorities and Innovation for the Future>

The Republic of Korea is committed to promoting the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda through its “Action with Women and Peace” initiative. This initiative is built on two pillars: (i) convening an annual conference that amplifies women's voices in the field of international peace and security, and (ii) providing humanitarian and development assistance for women and girls in conflict-affected countries.

This year, the international community marks the 25th anniversary of the landmark UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda and the 10th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 2250 on the Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) agenda. The AWP conference, which has served as a vital platform for dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and innovation on the WPS agenda, will be held on November 13 under the theme “WPS@25: Priorities and Innovation for the Future.”

Building on this milestone, this year’s AWP Conference focuses on youth voices and leadership, particularly in shaping the WPS agenda for its next chapter. Why does the WPS agenda matter? What does it mean for young people, especially in Korea? And as future leaders, how can youth help drive this agenda forward? Through open dialogue, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs aims to explore these questions in collaboration with youth and chart a path forward together.

We are now recruiting youth supporters to join this year’s AWP Conference, which will reflect on key achievements of the past 25 years and explore innovative pathways for the future of the WPS agenda.
